Journey to the wild

Have you ever wished to fly?

Just spreading your wings and flying into the vast world. Feeling the wind passing by and enjoying the sunlight hitting your face. Sometimes resting a little on a tree and enjoying the view of the great wood in front of your eyes expending all the way to the big and mighty mountains. Some of your companions land as well near your tree. They like to enjoy the same view with the same fiery sunset. Some clouds get as well lighted and change from minute to minute their appearance. Some become reddish, some are already pink and some begin to light up as the sun itself, showing up like flames dancing with the rhythm of the wind. And after this spectacle it begins to get quieter. The horizon before burning up with all its glory it begins now to fade and get a bluer tone. The clouds calm slowly down and another great companion starts to rise up. Its crescent form has a bright yet calm tone and with its white dress shares some of the light received by its counterpart. It is then, when you begin to fly again and your friends follow your lead. Up and down through the air ,loosing up, enjoying the chats and being happy to do what you do.

As I saw the common swifts flying through the evening with the moon passing by, they lit up my imagination and let me think what a great world we are living in and how amazing it is to be able to see them so close. You probably would imagine that I took the image above in some great national park with a big river or a lake nearby.

Well… if you imagined the lake, than you would at least have gotten some points for that, but the rest would be just part of my imagination letting lose to the view I was capturing. The image with the common swifts was taken in the middle of Zurich near its lake. A place full of people, public transportation and most of the time a lot of cars waiting for the signals changing from red to green. You wouldn’t expect them on a place with all the people around and yet they accommodated very well and are living with the people. Still enjoying their flights and trying to capture some bugs flying around in the hot air. Some wildlife just in the middle of a city.

For us photographers and as well for everyone who wants to enjoy some nature, we don’t need to take a plane to a remote location and to search for some lost nature. Sometimes the first step out of your home is the only thing needed for you to get to explore and witness some nature. It is now a little over two years since I began to look more closely near my home and found so many unexpected moment just waiting for me.

Let me take you from time to time with me on a journey to the wild. A journey to find wildlife, enjoying the big things spotted from far away and as well the small things showing up just if you look at least twice.
