Switch to silence

Time to rest, but what to do if you still have the urge to explore?

During hot days of summer resting in the shadows is key. Most of the wild will take shelter in the shadows or even only show up at night. And when the night has come, a new concert begins at the horizon. Butterflies evolve to bats and the bright songs pf the sparrows are altered by the cricket’s music in the gras. A slow breeze finds its way through the vegetation and cools a little all life sitting around taking a break. The first planets emerge from their slumber in the sky donating a little light and showing the way to the stars who will shortly follow their path. The cities don't wait as well and their lights begin to shine over the streets and little alleys. It is the beginning of a new cycle and the start of a new adventure.

As said in the last post it surely isn't necessary to take a plane to enjoy nature. Even taking our first step outside our home will give us the opportunity to find some nature. We only need to be open. During the day or especially our day job we are focused on finding the most efficient way for reaching our goals. Be it to solve a problem or just arriving in time to the other end of the city we are trained to react fast and don't waste time so we can get the maximum out of everything. But what if the best way to see something is exactly the opposite? What if taking it slow shows you what is hidden or even visible but missed because of a fast move?

While during the day we seem to be full of adrenalin, a little walk in the night tends to do to us exactly what we miss during the day…taking it slow. In doing so we relax. Our breath and our pulse slow down. Our steps get more and more silent. We are less dominant in our environment and the wild population sees us less as a threat. It is then that they will show up minding their own business and not caring for your actions. Especially if you let them be and don't run to them, they will show up more and more and even look at you as if they wanted to great you and gift you with a little smile. The crickets continue with their concert and communicate with their conspecifics and if you're lucky some hedgehogs will cross your path and walk with you.

A feeling of peace and a coexistence showing us it is possible to see so much more if we are brave enough to take it slow sometimes, to be silent, to open our eyes for what surrounds us.

A wonderful moment to enjoy with your loved ones.
